Meet the PI
Orin Bloch, MD, is the Director of Neurosurgical Oncology at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center and an Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine. His laboratory studies mechanisms of immune resistance in patients with cancer to identify new targets to enhance the immune response to tumors. Additionally, Dr. Bloch’s Brain Tumor Immunotherapy Laboratory provides immune monitoring and biomarker development for pre-clinical and clinical trials of immunotherapy for glioblastoma, the most common and malignant type of brain tumor. The laboratory has been continuously funded by NIH since 2013 and has produced numerous trainees who are now in practice around the United States.

Dullei Min, PhD - Lab Manager
Dullei is a Staff Research Associate with 20 years of experience in immunologic studies and flow cytometry, and works hard to manage longitudinal projects involving immune monitoring for brain tumor patients, in addition to ensuring the well being of the lab. |
Robert A. Riestenberg - Medical Student
Bob is a current MS3 at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He is originally from the Davis, CA area and completed his undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley. Bob is completing a research project studying radiation-induced immunologic changes in glioblastoma before continuing on to residency in neurological surgery. |
Dennis Lee, MS - Medical Student
Dennis is a current MS3 at the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University; he completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland and graduate degree at Rosalind Franklin. He is an NREF fellow and is studying immune changes in patients with brain metastasis, as well as the effects of immune-modifying drugs in glioblastoma, before continuing on to residency in neurological surgery. |
Aden Haskell-Mendoza, MS - Post-Bac
Aden is a Junior Specialist who studied DNA damage and radiation-induced changes in small RNAs in glioblastoma while completing undergraduate and graduate degrees at UC San Diego. He maintains the lab's tumor models and is studying the immune consequences of laser ablation. He is interested in neuro-oncology, and plans to attend medical school in 2020. |
